2026 High School Area Show

April 11, 2026 - May 12, 2026

The annual High School Area Show is a juried exhibition featuring the artwork of high school artists from Kalamazoo and its surrounding counties. This show provides students opportunities to not only show their work in a museum, but also the chance to win prizes and scholarships. The KIA is proud to host this annual exhibition committed to nurturing emerging talent and expanding access to meaningful arts experiences for young people.

The 2026 juror is Ginger Owen-Murakami. Owen-Murakami’s artwork reflects narratives of family history, race, gender, and culture. Her practice includes installation, sculpture, and various photographic methods. She is currently a Professor of Photography at Western Michigan University’s Gwen Frostic School of Art.

The show is open to high school students residing in Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Van Buren counties. Students can submit up to two works online through CaFE (callforentry.org). Submissions will be accepted January 6 through February 10.
