Do you want to apply to art opportunities but feel overwhelmed about how to start? Learn what documents and photos you’ll need when applying, plan for application costs, and how to keep an “application packet” ready to go online. Get insights directly from a former juror and learn what they are looking for in an application.
Renew and strengthen your knowledge and use of the principles of color theory and its various emotional attributes in application to your own artwork. Participants will seek personal inspiration and guidance through each class session’s in-depth review of the mechanics of color theory from reviews of historical examples and visits to the KIA’s revolving exhibitions and permanent collection. Classes will be conducted in a workshop setting with the primary focus of the class being the successful application of color theory in the participants’ artwork.
This class focuses on an individual’s growth in the making of visual art, its process, and the conveying of ideas. Participants will be able to seek personal inspiration and guidance through the review and discussion of each other’s work and the artwork in the KIA’s revolving exhibitions and permanent collection. Classes will be conducted in a workshop setting with the primary focus of the class being the growth of one another’s art. Additional activities may include in-class experimentation.

The art fair season is here! Prepare with a class that covers art market applications, how to professionally package and present your work, and tips for staying organized. Whether you are just getting started as a festival artist or want to refine your booth, you are sure to gain valuable insights for having a successful art market season. This is a lecture-based class with time for group discussion and questions. If applicable, bring photos of your booth and examples of your artwork to share.

Let’s chat about resumes over coffee! Learn how to format an artist's resume, what information to include, and best practices for maintaining your new resume. Professional practices for art students, emerging artists and makers, and those looking to brush up on their art business skills will be covered. Laptops and/or tablets with Word and Excel capabilities are encouraged. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided!
