Explore and learn techniques of collagraph printing focused on using plants and organic material. In this workshop, students will learn how to build collagraph plates by collaging fabric, paper, plants and other textures onto a printable rigid surface, creating unique organic prints. Students will also learn inking and printing techniques using a press.

If you are a community member who has carved your own block and are interested in producing two large-scale prints on September 26, you may register for a timeslot. Registration covers fabric, ink, staff support, and reservation time. Just bring your prepared matrix! This option is for those who have printmaking experience and did not attend the Steamroller Printmaking Prep Workshop in June. Tuition is a per person rate, even if you chose to do a collaborative matrix.

Discover your drawings coming to life as reproducible prints. Students will begin with Pronto plate printing, one of the easiest and fastest printing processes. This course will also cover the more traditional lithographic media of aluminum plates and stones. Step-by-step instructions will take you through the basics of plate preparation and press operation. Enjoy drawing and printing your own image with the potential of creating an edition of your own prints.

In this watercolor woodblock class, students will learn to create black-and-white and multi-color print editions using watercolors and traditional Japanese tools and techniques. This timeless process is perfect for making art at home; all materials are non-toxic, prints dry instantly, and cleaning up is fast and easy. Each class will have a demonstration, individual and group feedback sessions, and studio time.

Using a polymer-coated plate and a digital positive, you’ll create an intaglio-etched plate for high-quality images approaching those produced using traditional copperplate gravure. This process produces a beautiful photographic gradation of tones.
