WINTER ART EXPLORATION FOR GRADES 1-3 / (C) SCULPTING FROM A STILL LIFE

Using a still life as inspiration, we will fill baskets with miniature, sculpted fruits made from air dry clay to take home. Students will use their observational skills to recreate textures, colors, shapes, and scale found within the still life. A great class for young artists looking to work with 3D forms. WINTER ART EXPLORATION FOR GRADES 1-3 / (B) LEGO ART

Young artists will use lego pieces to build unique designs, which will act as a relief printmaking plate. Students will print their own designs with water-based mediums on our mini printing press. A wonderful way to merge interests through exploration of shape, form, color, symmetry, and Legos! All materials provided.
WINTER ART EXPLORATION FOR GRADES 1-3 / (A) WINTER SCENE PAINTING

Spend the afternoon learning basic painting techniques as we paint a winter scene together. Participants will have all supplies included to take home a finished 11x14 canvas painting. All materials provided.

Customize your own tote bag with hand-drawn/-painted designs. Create button pins from drawings or other 2D media to personalize it even further! All materials will be provided, but students are welcome to bring in sketches or designs if they have an idea ahead of time. All materials provided.
WINTER EXPLORATION FOR GRADES 4-6 / (A) MIX-AND-MATCH CREATURE BOOK

In this afternoon session we will make a spiral bound flipbook full of animal and/or creature illustrations, which will be split into sections so that the artists can mix and match different combinations. A dragon with the body of a penguin and the legs of a giraffe? The possibilities are endless! All materials provided.

Pack your (imaginary) bags and set off on a creative journey! Students will explore global cultures through playful and expressive clay projects inspired by art, animals, architecture, and traditions from across the globe. Each week, we’ll "visit" a new country and create a hand-built project using pinch, slab, or coil techniques. Students will gain skills in sculpting, texture, and design while learning about the diversity of art around the world.

Beginning students shoot, develop, and print film photos in the KIA’s well-equipped traditional darkroom. Students will master the basics of photography’s history, as well as fundamentals of competition and design. Cameras and all materials will be provided.

An independent study oriented class with one-on-one instruction provided with an emphasis on the exploration of visual culture through drawing and painting mediums and subject matter. Students will be encouraged to create artwork that brings out their unique talent and creativity. This class will help students with their own personal vision and many mediums will be covered.
