Art, Music, & Feminism in the 1950s is an exhibition catalogue the expands upon the KIA’s 2023 exhibition that investigated the often-underestimated influences of women during the 1950s by exploring issues regarding gender roles, identity, and personal freedoms, revealing how women artists played a pivotal role in opening new pathways for women in the 1960s and beyond. Layered with insights into women’s impacts on 1950s literature and music, this catalogue reflects on how individually and collectively, these women’s voices were powerful testaments to the uniqueness of that era.
