While experiencing the beauty of southwest Michigan landscape, Clark Mitchell will expand your pastels skills and provide an overview of outdoor painting followed by a plein-air painting demonstration in pastel. He will explain how to adjust for color, understand the elements of a landscape, and infuse your painting with style and emotion. Individualized attention will be provided while you work. Insights into finishing your painting in the studio, discussions and group critiques will inspire your work. Watercolor and More in the Outdoors (942)

During this fun & instructive class, students will work en plein-air (outdoors!). While the emphasis of the class will be on watercolor, students may choose to work with a variety of drawing or painting materials including watercolor pencils, colored pencils, acrylic, pastels, etc.

While working outdoors at a variety of local sites, we'll create loose and expressive studies. We will focus on composition while freely interpreting our subjects in our chosen media. The KIA will provide portable easels for the class. A suggested material list will be provided.

Traditional Chinese Calligraphy (606)

Calligraphy is one of China s greatest high art forms and a cornerstone of Chinese culture. Participants will receive an introduction to the history of Chinese calligraphy; learn about the main schools of the art form, and how to paint Chinese calligraphy. All materials are included.
