The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is proud to host internationally acclaimed painter Gary Bukovnik for a Visiting Artist Workshop this August. Bukovnik will demonstrate his various styles of watercolor painting along with offering technical advice.

This workshop will take place August 6-8, 9 am - 5 pm in Studio 6 at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Kirk Newman Art School. Space is limited, so register today!

Bukovnik is a Cleveland, Ohio native and currently resides in San Francisco. He has garnered international recognition for his artwork using mediums of watercolor, monotype, and lithography. Much of Bukovnik's reputation is centered on his ability to create "floral images of great depth and intensity."

In 2001 Gary Bukovnik was selected to create a poster for the List Collection to celebrate programs at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York. His work, Dahlias, is currently on view at the KIA's On Paper: Lincoln Center / List Art Collection exhibition. In 2003 and 2005 Bukovnik was asked to travel as the visiting artist for the American Academy in Rome for six weeks to display his work and offer his knowledge.

Gary Bukovnik has hosted many solo exhibits in large cities across the United States and has works represented in both private and public collections. Some of these collections include the Brooklyn Museum; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Modern Art, Net York; Art Institute of Chicago; Smithsonian Institute, Washington D.C.; Fine Arts Museums, San Francisco.
