Arts Fair Prizes Announced + More Fun for Saturday

KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is pleased to announce the cash prize winners for best in medium at the 67th Annual Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Fair. Twelve artists received awards totaling $3,000, announced at the arts fair artists' dinner on June 1. The winners were selected by a jury team of professional artists and art educators. Each artist won a $250 cash prize for best artwork in their medium.

The fair continues Saturday, June 2, from 9 am to 5 pm, with 180 fine artists showcasing their artwork -- and many other features.

Look for the Do-Dah Parade going by on Park Street at 11 am. From 12-4, the children's art-making tent offers creative fun at nominal fees,) and is the starting point for the Art Detectives scavenger hunt. Magician Brian Penney will be roaming the park for families to enjoy magic up close and personal.

Entertainment on the Rotary Stage features by the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre (12:15 pm), Joe Reilly (2 pm) and Celeste Allison (3:30 pm).

Dede Alder will perform at the KIA Family Stage at 12:15 pm, followed by the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra Storytime and Petting Zoo at 2 pm. The Family Stage is located in the Northeast quadrant of the park on the grass facing city hall.

Lead sponsor for the fair is PNC. Applications for the 2019 Arts Fair, June 7-8, will open in October.
