Kalamazoo Art League Hosts Renee Covalucci
Lecture on Chinese Woodcuts. Wednesday, February 10th.

Kalamazoo, MI - Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Kalamazoo Art League is hosting an art lecture with Renee Covalucci, co-curator of the KIA exhibition Woodcuts in Modern China, 1937-2008. Covalucci will discuss the cultural and political influences of the exhibition. She will also describe her own experiences as a printmaker in China and lead a gallery tour of the exhibition.

The talk begins at 10 a.m. Admission is free to Kalamazoo Art League members, $10 general admission, and $3 for students from WMU, K College, KVCC and the Kirk Newman Art School with ID. A reception following the presentation is included in admission.

Since 2002, Covalucci has curated three exhibitions of contemporary Chinese woodblock prints and conducted many workshops and talks on the subject as vice president of the Boston Printmakers, an organization that produces shows and opportunities for artists. Covalucci teaches relief printing, coordinates internships for fine arts students and teaches an art history course on modern China.

Renee Covalucci has a BA and a Med from Boston University in woodblock printing in China and comparative education in Ireland.

Membership in the Kalamazoo Art League is open to any member of the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.
