KIA Opens Post-Baccalaureate Residency Applications

KALAMAZOO, MI - Registration is open for the post-baccalaureate residency program at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts' Kirk Newman Art School, to begin September 6. The nine-month residency is designed for aspiring artists seeking to grow and strengthen their art practice in a supportive community, with access to professional studio facilities and guidance. Applications are available online at kiarts.org/school.
Candidates should be college graduates preparing for a career as a professional artist or for entry into a Master of Fine Arts degree program. They should have a deep commitment in their chosen mediums and have the appropriate discipline to work independently in an open studio environment.
The deadline for applications is June 1. Awards will be announced July 11, and residencies will begin September 6, and continue through May 21, 2017. Applications will require a $20 fee.
Residencies are offered in painting, printmaking, photography/digital media, jewelry/metals, and in ceramics. Each resident will receive two scholarships per 12-week term to attend classes at the Kirk Newman Art School, along with a stipend for materials and access to the studio in his/her discipline.
