The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts hosts its 42nd annual Holiday Art Sale December 4-5.

A Kalamazoo tradition enjoyed by more than a thousand shoppers each year begins with members' appreciation night Thursday, December 3, 5:30-8:30 pm. Public sale hours are 4-8 pm Friday, December 4, and 9 am-3 pm Saturday, December 5.

The annual sale fills the museum lobby and classrooms of the Kirk Newman Art School with hand-crafted ceramic and glass pieces; jewelry; hand-woven scarves and accessories; paintings; functional and decorative ceramics; framed photographs, prints, and paintings; and metal and glass sculpture.

All of the work is created by art school students and faculty in the studios and classrooms of the art school, and proceeds support the artists and the school.

Patrons look forward to finding one-of-a-kind items for their gift list, or to complete a holiday outfit or their home's seasonal decor. The museum often sees a spike in membership from those seeking early shopping benefits.

Lead sponsors for the sale are DeNooyer Chevrolet and Friendship Village, and co-sponsors are Metro Toyota and Treystar.
