KALAMAZOO, MI - Registration is open for Summer art classes at the Kirk Newman Art School. More than 50 art classes for adults are offered, taught by professional artists in drawing, painting, ceramics, photography and digital media, printmaking, jewelry, sculpture, fiber, and glass.
Classes are offered for beginners in every medium, with additional opportunities for single classes or weekend workshops in printmaking, jewelry, photography, drawing, and fiber.
There are 12 classes on offer for children and teens, beginning Saturday, June 13, and 15 week-long camps, full and half days, starting Monday, June 15. New this year will be a Toy and Model Design Camp using the KIA's new 3-D printers. For the teens, a one-week Filmmaking camp is offered the week of June 22 and July 27.
One of four terms each year, the eight-week summer term offers the chance to try something new in state-of-the-art studios.
