Spring Term Registration Underway at the Kirk Newman Art School
Posted: April 2, 2015
KALAMAZOO, MI - Registration is open for Spring art classes at the Kirk Newman Art School. More than 50 art classes for children, teens, and adults are offered, taught by professional artists. Children's classes begin April 11, and adult classes begin April 14.
One of four terms each year, the six-week spring term offers the opportunity to try something new with a minimum commitment, in state-of-the-art studios. Beginning classes are offered in every department: drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, printmaking, jewelry, sculpture, fiber, and glass.
Classes for children start at age 3 and 4, with "My First Art Class." Clay, drawing, and sculpture classes are offered for students in grades 1-6. For middle- and high-school students, classes are offered in screen printing, tattoo design, writing, drawing and painting, photography and ceramics.
Additional opportunities include single-day classes like the jewelry class Cuttlefish Casting on Saturday April 18, 9 am - noon, and workshops including three photography workshops partnering with and located at the Kalamazoo Nature Center, Binder Park Zoo, Air Zoo, and the Gilmore Car Museum.
