Give a Child the Gift of Creativity This Holiday!
Kirk Newman Art School Winter Break Children's Multi-Media Workshop - Register Today!

Young Artist

Kalamazoo, MI - December 10, 2009. Purchasing gifts for children these days can be very challenging. With worries about toy safety to the appropriateness of various video games, adults today are faced with a myriad of options and concerns over what gift would prove the most rewarding. Why not give a special child in your life an experience that's outside the gift box?

The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts' Kirk Newman Art School is accepting registrations for the Winter Break Children's Multi-Media Workshop. The workshop is held December 28 - 30th and offers three options for children grades 1-6 to participate in. Students can either attend a full day, a half day in the morning, or a half day in the afternoon. The flexibility of this workshop makes it easy for parents and caregivers to accommodate busy winter break schedules!

Students will be inspired by the current exhibition, The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons (opening December 12th) as well as the works found in the KIA Permanent Collection. After touring, children will have the opportunity to try their hand at various artistic mediums including sculpture, painting and print. All materials are provided; budding artists only need their imagination and creativity!

Pricing and times for the Winter Break Children's Multi-Media Workshop are as follows:

-Full Day (Class#095, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.): Sustaining Members: $158, Members: $162, Community: $170. Please provide your child a sack lunch for the one-hour, supervised lunch break.

-Half Day (Class#096, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. or Class#097, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.): Sustaining Members: $88, Members: $92, Community: $100

This holiday, skip the video games and let your child create their own world of fantasy with art at the KIA!
