On Friday, December 5, 4 - 8:30 pm, and Saturday, December 6, 9 am - 3 pm, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts celebrates its 41st annual Holiday Art Sale.

The expansive lobby, graced by the colorful Chihuly glass sculpture in the foyer, is decorated with twinkling lights and holiday decor, ready to turn into a bustling holiday marketplace.

More than 150 faculty and students of the Kirk Newman Art School have worked to create gifts ranging from glass ornaments to hand-woven scarves and accessories, to paintings, ceramics, framed photographs, metal sculpture, and more. All proceeds will support local artists and generate proceeds for the school.

The sale is a Kalamazoo tradition that helps patrons usher in the holidays, treat themselves to a date night outing, tackle their gift list, or find something to complete a special holiday outfit, of their home's seasonal decor.

Festivities kick off with a members' only night on Thursday, December 4, 6:30-8:30 pm, featuring wine and live music.

The Kirk Newman Art School is a community-based, non-degree art school at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, offering 300+ classes each year in a wide range of mediums, with annual enrollment of more than 3,000 students. Classes are available for ages toddlers through adults. Registration is now open for winter classes, which begin January 5, 2015. Scholarships are available, with applications due December 9.
