Local Artists Selected to Sell Their Artwork in the KIA Gallery Shop

July 15, 2013, Kalamazoo, MI - Starting on July 16, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts' Gallery Shop will sell new artwork by seven local artists. The gallery shop opened a call for proposals to the Kirk Newman Art School students as well as to gallery shop patrons and the community on social media. Selected by gallery shop staff and volunteers, the new artwork represents a variety of mediums.

"It is important to have a local voice in our gallery shop and we are very excited to have this high quality artwork," said Karyn Juergens, Gallery Shop Manager.

The Selected Artists Include:

Lorrie Grainger Abdo - Kalamazoo, MI
Hand painted paper mosaics on boxes and frames, in bright tonal colors.

Shari LaBrenz - Kalamazoo, MI
Fabricated jewelry using sterling and precious metal clay.

Jim Nulty - Fennville, MI
Stoneware and porcelain clay, incorporating images of insects and fish.

Sally Pritko - Plainwell, MI
Fused glass using glass stringers, which produces a fabric type effect.

Judith Jansen - Portage, MI
Sterling fabricated and cast jewelry, incorporating faceted stones and unique coins.

Christine Terrill - Paw Paw, MI
Paper Mache' and Celluclay vessels, as well as wall pieces depicting natural forms and flowers.

Jennifer Sanderson - Kalamazoo, MI
Functional stoneware ceramics.
