The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Art & Adventure Auction is typically by invitation only. This year, the auction is open to the public. Join us for an evening of fine dining, cocktails and an opportunity to bid on art, jewelry, antiques and amazing adventure packages!
The 2012 Art & Adventures Auction is on Saturday, October 27 at 6 pm at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. Tickets are $125 per person and seating is limited. Reserve your seat no later than October 19 by calling the KIA at (269) 349-7775.
The evening features a silent auction beginning at 6 pm and includes cocktails and delicious hors d'oeuvres, a 50/50 raffle, and at 8 pm, an elegant dinner followed by a live auction. The gourmet dinner is catered by The Park Club.
This year's live auction includes great adventure and travel experiences, from a two-week trip to Queensland, Australia, to white water rafting on Idaho's Salmon River, to an "art in the evening" experience at the KIA learning how to make a piece of raku-fired ceramics.
Art on the auction block includes works by well-known artists such as Donald Sultan, Peter Max, H. Claude Pissarro, Tom Kendall, Kate Demke, Victoria Littna and Sy Ellens. Two dramatic pieces of hand-blown glass by George Kennard of the Corning Museum of Glass Hot Glass Roadshow will be featured in the silent auction.
To preview the live auction items and highlights from the silent auction, visit www.kiarts.org/auction. If you are unable to attend the event, absentee bids may be placed online or via an absentee bid form until 5 pm on Thursday, October 25.
Proceeds from the event benefit the KIA's collection by supporting the purchase and care of works of art. For more information visit www.kiarts.org/auction or call (269) 349-7775.
