The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is proud to present Expressions: International Glass Invitational to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the American Studio Glass Movement. Expressions opens on Saturday, August 11.
Organized by Habatat Galleries, this exhibition presents the leading work in contemporary glass from around the world. The year 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the development of contemporary glass in the United States, and the KIA is proud to participate in this nationwide celebration initiated by the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass, which is also providing support for this exhibition in Kalamazoo.
Expressions features nearly 40 beautiful examples of glass art created by renown artists including, Dan Dailey, Ann Wolff, Dale Chihuly, Emily Brock, Howard Ben Tr, Paul Stankard and Toots Zynsky, only a few of the 26 distinguished artists represented.
As part of this exhibition, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is hosting several exciting events including:
ARTbreak: Free informational programs on art topics. Brown bag lunches welcome, cookies and coffee provided. Begins at 12 p.m.

October 5-14: The Corning Museum Hot Glass Roadshow It's been seven years since the The Corning Museum Hot Glass Roadshow has visited the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. We are excited to have them back this fall for 60 live demonstrations!
See master glassmakers take gobs of molten glass and turn them into beautiful bowls, vases and more in a narrated Hot Glass Show of twirling, heat, sparks, and glassblowing. Gallery hours: Tuesday - Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sunday 12 - 5 p.m.: (after September 2nd, 2012). Closed Mondays.
