Parent/Child Workshop Exploring Clay and Thinking Large (194)

February 12, Studio 7, minimum age 7
Members: $70, Non-Members: $80
This is an exciting experience for parents to share with their children. Parent/child teams will be introduced to a slab building technique that will allow them to create a very large vessel. By adding texture and color, each project will be a unique work of art. Participants will be notified when they may pick up completed work. All materials and the firing are included. Have you ever wondered if you could make a pair of earrings? This afternoon workshop is perfect for anyone who would like to try jewelry making. There are no jewelry skills required and we provide all the materials you will need. You will have time to make at least two pair of earrings - one for you and one to give. Collagraph Workshop (704)

Collagraph printmaking uses a variety of common materials to create a mixed-media printing surface that can be printed either as an intaglio or relief. Paste, sand, wallpaper, lace, gauze, string, plant fibers, tape, or just carving the surface will create texture and carry the ink to the surface of your paper. Materials and paper will be provided to help get you started, but students are strongly encouraged to bring in their own textures to use and share. To register for this workshop, click here.

Rags: Beyond Plain Weave Workshop (554)

Curious about rag weaving? This workshop will explore the basics of weaving with cloth strips, both for rugs and a lighter -weight version for table linens and totes. Includes cutting the fabric, ways of joining the strips and how to calculate needed fabric. You will also sample other suitable weaves: monk's belt, Ms and Os, double-faced twill, overshot, summer and winter, undulating twill and crackle. A materials fee of $35 is to be paid to the instructor on the day of the workshop. To register for this workshop, click here.
