Kalamazoo, Michigan - Tuesday, December 13, 2011. Are you still holiday shopping? Can't seem to find the perfect gift for a special child in your life? Instead of a video game or a toy that will be quickly forgotten, why not give an experience that will be remembered for a lifetime? Give the gift of creativity through art, with Winter Break Art Camp from the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.

Children enjoy expressing themselves in creative ways. But sometimes it is intimidating for them to try something new at school, especially if they know they will be graded. At the KIA's Kirk Newman Art School, students are provided the tools and structure they need to get started and the freedom to explore and celebrate their individuality.

Our Winter Break Art Camp is designed to provide students the opportunity to try different forms of media, with inspiration provided by the KIA's Permanent Collection. Students will be able to design a sculpture, a painting and a print to take home.

The KIA Winter Break Art Camp is designed for children in grades 1-6. Participants may attend a full day, a half-day morning session, or a half-day afternoon session.

Space fills up quickly, so it is encouraged to register early for Winter Break Art Camp. Registration is easy, call (269)349-7775 ext. 3101, or register online by clicking this link.

For more information, please call (269) 349-7775 ext. 3101 or email the school.

Please note that KIA Members receive a $10 discount on class registrations. If you are not a member and would like to become one, please click here prior to registering for Winter Break Art Camp to receive your discount.
