DIA DAY

Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn, Dutch; Head of Christ, 1648/1650, oil on oak panel. Detroit Institute of Arts.

The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is planning a bus trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts to view Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus on Thursday, December 8.

There is always something new at the world-acclaimed Detroit Institute of Arts. But the KIA's Day Away at the DIA visit promises to reveal things you probably won't be able to see again.

This special visit features rare art and privileged access. In the morning, visitors will take an audio tour of Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus, an exhibition that assembles - for the first ever - many of the Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn's finest paintings, prints and drawings that portray Jesus.

In the afternoon, visitors can take private tours of the institute's European sculpture and decorative arts collection, American art collection and conservation department - each led by its respective curator or chief conservator. In addition, DIA Director Graham W.J. Beal will join the group during lunch.

Tickets cost $70 for KIA Members and $75 for non-members. Lunch is on your own in the DIA cafe.

The bus departs at 8 a.m. and returns at 6:30 p.m. Seating is limited.
