Saugatuck Trip 2011

The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is hosting an artistic getaway to Saugatuck/Douglas on Friday, June 17, 1-10 pm.

Acclaimed as "the Art Coast of Michigan," this beachfront stretch is home to more than 25 galleries, Ox-Bow (The Art Institute of Chicago's famed summer school), an art center, and dozens of artists - not to mention numerous quaint shops and trendy restaurants plus a feel-good vibe. That's why the KIA is staging an afternoon/evening getaway to this cultural hotspot. It's itinerary includes:

  • a private wine-and-cheese reception at Water Street Gallery in Douglas
  • a special respite at the remote Ox-Bow for one of its rare Friday Night Open Studios, featuring artist demonstrations, exhibits and a live auction of work by students, visiting artists and faculty
  • time for shopping and dining in downtown Saugatuck
  • comfortable, door-to-door coach service

The getaway costs $45. Dinner is on your own. The coach departs from the KIA at 1 p.m and returns at 10 p.m. To reserve your seat, contact Caroline DeNooyer, carolined@kiarts.org or call (269) 349-7775 ext. 3111. Seating is limited, so reserve your spot today!
