Posted: September 27, 2016
The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts welcome the community to enjoy free admission for its second annual "Everyone's a Member Day" on Friday, October 7.
Usually just $5, admission will be free to all, 11 am - 8 pm. Four exhibitions plus six galleries filled with works from the KIA permanent collection will be on view - plus the newly redesigned Upjohn-Mason Grandchildren Gallery, where families can enjoy hands-on activities.
The Kirk Newman Art School will offer the member tuition (usually $20 off) for remaining fall classes and workshops with on-site registration, 8 am-8 pm.
The Gallery Shop will offer a 10% discount on its wide selection of jewelry, accessories, apparel, children's gifts, home decor, and work by local artists, 10 am - 8 pm.
As part of Art Hop, the evening offers a reception to celebrate the opening of Scaled Up: Sculpture by Marcia Wood, 5-8 pm. The exhibition offers an overview of 50 years of art by the Kalamazoo artist and educator, with more than 50 sculptures, maquettes, paintings and images of her large-scale public commissions. Exhibition sponsored by Stryker.
Memberships start at just $35, and support the work of the KIA, with education programs, school tours, free and family programs. Those who sign up as new members will receive a free gift!
