Art League Presents: American Art Expert and Appraiser Debra Force

KALAMAZOO, MI -- The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Art League will host an evening with esteemed American art specialist and appraiser Debra Force, of Debra Force Fine Art, Inc., New York, on Wednesday, April 8 at 7 pm.

Ms. Force is an appraiser on a well-loved PBS show that appraises antiques across the country, and she will focus on the market for American art from the 18th through mid-20th centuries. A special emphasis will be works by artists or their contemporaries represented in the collection of the KIA.

She is a specialist in American paintings, drawings, prints, and sculpture of the 18th through the 20th centuries, and through her company, provides appraisal and consulting services in American paintings and drawings and related areas of American art.

Prior to forming her own company, she served as Senior Vice President and Head of the American Paintings Department at Christie's in New York, where she organized over 40 auctions of American art and researched, catalogued, and sold American art of all types and values to collectors throughout the United States.

Ms. Force also served as Director of American Art at Hirschl & Adler Galleries, Inc., New York (1993-1994), one of the foremost galleries in the United States, dealing in American Art from the 18th through 20th centuries.

Admission is free for Art League members, $10 for KIA members, $12 for the public, and $3 for students.
