While you’re here\, be sure to check out Chanoyu: Modern Tea Ceramics from the Horvitz Collection in the Joy Light Gallery. \nKama Tai is a liberatory facilitator\, somatic movement innovator\, and ancestral lineage healing practitioner. She is the founder of Rootead Enrichment Center\, which focuses on healing trauma\, de-stigmatizing mental health\, and transformational justice. She centers BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ experiences and integrates West African culture and traditions into her praxis.

DESCRIPTION:Movement in the Museum returns as company members from Wellspring offer an interpretive exploration of Statement Pieces! During this program\, dancers will respond to the exhibition with improvisational movement inspired by the ways in which clothing moves and shapes the body\, offering freedom or restriction. \nKalamazoo holds the unique distinction of being home to one of the nation’s longest-standing\, small professional modern dance companies. Since its founding in 1981\, Wellspring has introduced thousands to the art of dance\, has enriched the Kalamazoo arts community through collaborations with professional artists\, and has become a platform for advancing postmodern dance choreography. \nPlease be advised that this program involves standing and walking; gallery stools will be available.
