SUMMARY:ArtBreak: West Michigan Area Show Artist Highlight
DESCRIPTION:During this ArtBreak\, meet local artists Vicki Nelson and Michael Pfleghaar\, whose paintings are featured in the 2024 West Michigan Area Show! \nVicki Nelson’s painting The Howards was selected for this year’s Art League Award. As an artist\, Nelson is interested in how humans interact with their environments. In her work\, she seeks to examine and reveal her subjects’ interior experiences. \nMichael Pfleghaar also explores human experience in his work\, but he does so through a focus on non-human objects as revelatory artifacts. Works such as Indoor Outdoor seek a delicate balance between realism and abstraction by flattening space\, utilizing mixed media\, and masking. \nStop by our galleries during July Art Hop for the announcement of the People’s Choice Award winner! This award\, sponsored by the Arts Council of Great Kalamazoo\, will be presented during Art Hop on Friday\, July 12\, at 6:00 pm. \n\n\n\nAll hybrid events will be livestreamed to our YouTube page and can be found under the “Live” tab. Recordings of select past events are available on YouTube as well. No registration is necessary in order to join in virtually.
