Michigan Okinawan Kenjinkai Taiko Dance Group

Join us for a fun afternoon as we explore Japanese art, clothing and food with staff and volunteers from the WMU's Soga Japan Center for Japanese Culture.

  • Make (or sample) a colorful, yummy sushi roll
  • Watch a demo and learn about Japanese calligraphy
  • Try on a yukata (summer robe) and geta (clogs)
  • Create an origami shape
  • Make a Gyotaku (Japanese fish print)
  • Okinawan-style Taiko dance group Michigan Okinawa Association Chimugukuru-kai performs at 2:15!

Activities are free.
