Richard Bresnahan will be presenting this workshop in connection with the show "Stoked." Richard is Artist in residence at St John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. Bresnahan' s training has been both in the U.S. and Japan. This melding of cultures is embodied by the Pottery Program's construction and use of the largest wood-fired kiln in the U.S., a kiln primarily built with recycled materials. Indigenous materials that are used at the St. John's Pottery all come from within a ten mile radius of the University. High Fire Stoneware and kaolin are local glazes are made of ashes from flax straw, navy bean straw, wheat straw, sunflower hull, wood and pink quartzite dust. Kilns are fueled with dead fall from the saint John's woods.
