Lecture: Anishinaabe Art of the Great Lakes

Speaker: David Penney, Ph.D., Associate Director, The National Museum of the American Indian, Washington D.C.

The works of Ottawa/Adawa, Chippewa/Ojibwa, and Potawatomi artists, (soon to be featured in an exhibition organized by the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian and the Art Gallery of Ontario) are vibrant examples of both historical and innovative traditions of today. One of the foremost scholars of Indian art, David Penney, will introduce them to us in this program.

This illustrated lecture will explore the diversity of Anishinaabe art-making, from the past several centuries through the trends of today.

Free for Art League members; $10 general admission; $3 students with ID from WMU, K College, KVCC or the Kirk Newman Art School.

Reception following the lecture included with admission.
