Charles Henry Alston Untitled (Couple)

Explore the KIA's collection of African American art. From the work and teaching of Charles Alston in the 1930s to key figures such as Jacob Lawrence and Romare Bearden to the next generation of artists of color, this three-part series will examine the rich, creative response of African American art to such fundamental concerns as memory, identity and community. The program will also present works of African American poets and musicians that complement those of the visual artists.
