ARTbreak Talk : The Value of Art in Medicine with James W Carter, MD FACP

Dates: Tue Nov 14, 17

Time: 12:00pm

Location:
Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Auditorium

Observation and listening are the major skills a clinician utilizes in diagnosis. Some medical schools have added art classes to their curricula to improve these skills. So, is time spent looking at great works of art more important than time spent looking at chest x-rays?
Dr. Carter will explore this question, discuss evidence that art classes have an impact in the training of young doctors and argue that by using the lessons learned in art museums physicians may improve patient care.
