2015 Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Fair
Artists of All Kinds
The 2015 lineup of nearly 200 jury-selected artists from across the country includes more than 60 first-time artists. Last year's top prize winner will be here, painter Marie Lemothe, whose art focuses on nature. Jewelry artist David Smallcombe, ceramicist Julie Devers, and painter Conrad Kauffman are among long-time favorites who will be on view. Of the 12 mediums you'll see, jewelry, painting, and ceramics the most represented, but there is a growing number of accomplished glass, fiber, leather, and wood artists set to join us.
Planning Your Visit
Beat the biggest crowds by joining us on Friday. The beer garden runs 4 - 10 pm on Friday. Saturday morning gets busy, with the Do-Dah Parade starting at 11 am. From 9 am to 1 pm, portions of South, Lovell, and Park streets are blocked off. There is street parking, and limited parking (for KIA members) in our lots, but spaces go fast. You may want to park a few blocks away until the parade crowd disperses.
Beer Garden (Food, Too!)
The popular Bell's Beer Garden, 4 - 10 pm Friday, can be found at the corner of Park and South streets under the institute overhang. Live music, grilled fare, beer, wine, and soft drinks make for a great way to start the weekend. Members of Kalamadoodle will be on hand drawing and quaffing.
More than Art
Artists are the headliners, but musical performances, food sales, and art demonstrations like live painting by Kalamazoo street artist Bonus Save, will round out your fair experience. Children's activities on Saturday include sand art, face tattoos, and art-making.
