There is always something to do at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. Looking for something fun, free and family oriented? Come to the KIA this November for the following programs!

sunday Funday web

-Sunday Funday - November 7, 2-4 p.m.: Explore the art of photography with hands-on activities and fun gallery games inspired by the great exhibition In Focus: National Geographic Greatest Portraits.

  • Step in front of the lens for a photographic portrait
  • Make a fun frame for your own photographs
  • Play a gallery game, learn more about phtography and win a prize
  • Check out art projects created by artGirls
Senior Day Tour

-Senior Day - November 11, 1-4 p.m.: Tour the exhibition In Focus: National Geographic Greatest Portraits and enjoy a 2 p.m. talk about photojournalism by Kalamazoo College professor Richard Koenig. You may choose to tour at 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. All guests attend the 2 p.m. talk.

Free for seniors 62+. Registration requested by November 8.

-Art in the Evening: A Sense of Place - November 11, 7 p.m.: Photographers Mary Whalen and Gary Cialdella use the camera to explore the nature of community and describe a sense of place. Hear the story behind Two Cities/48 Hours, a photo essay on the cities of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, Michigan to which Whalen and Cialdella contribute.

Admission is free, no registration is required.

Story Time Image

-Library Story Time - November 13, 11:15-11:45 a.m.: Stop by the library for story time. Enjoy fun stories on a different theme each month. Appropriate for ages 4 to 8.

-Movie Shorts for Kids - November 20, 11:15-11:45 a.m.: Stop by the KIA Library to watch fun movie shorts on DVD. Different movies each month. Appropriate for ages 4 to 8.
