Lecture: Nuno Felt: A New Take on an Ancient Japanese Tradition

Speaker: Vallorie Henderson, textile artist from Lousiville

Legends about the origins of felt abound, but the true origin of felt is unknown. However, it is known that felting is an ancient form of textile-making. Nuno is a Japanese felting technique that combines wool with shear fabric such as silk to make lightweight garments and other beautiful textiles.

The history of felting and the development of Nuno felting will be the topic of this program.
