The devastating 2009 Haitian earthquake also struck the island's rich artistic traditions, destroying most museums, galleries and public spaces containing Haiti's artistic treasures.
KIA docent Denise Wierman discusses the rich legacy and current plight of Haitian art. Denise has spent considerable time in Haiti and is a longtime collector of Haitian art.
The short, award-winning animated film Black Dawn, which incorporates the work of a dozen of Haiti's most prominent artists to tell the story of the country and its people will be screened before the talk.
Donations to KILTI, a non-profit organization supporting the Haitian art community, will be accepted.
